A selection of installations I designed and installed across various locations on the RISD campus.
In a narrow hall of undulating white walls, I extracted existing elements from the surroundings to activate the space. Red is inspired by the only bright-colored Exit sign; graphics are developed from the existing diagonal grid on the door window.
An Inviting Staircase
In a dungeon-like hallway, I brought the element of ‘light’ onto the spiral staircase to encourage people to take the stairs rather than the elevator close-by. The dangling paper ruffled gently, as if the staircase took a breath each time someone walked by.
Remembering Market Square
On a historical plaza, I used writing and typography to acknowledge its dark past of slave trade as well as celebrate its expressive present of gathering.
